Devlog

In the initial days I didn't had a clear concept of what is  it that I am trying to make (apparently I still don't have XD) ) . The north star that I thought of following during this duration was of creating a space game with a Villain and some shooting enemies. The main thing I wanted to really polish was the Villain part and the lore around the whole game (was not completely able to achieve it as I realized Time Limits are called limits for a reason). I feel guilty of being overambitious on this project for the jam duration.

The key game play of the game is around a battle ship that we as player can drive and shoot from with the main objective of defeating the boss ship. While thinking of the locomotion of the player ship, I thought of giving the player a basic 2d motion like many other games in this genre but as I read in the Jam description of taking Risks. I thought of giving a full 3d freedom for motion to player. When I implemented that feature it felt a bit off and wasn't exactly suiting to the idea I had as the ship was to keep it a bit realistic and bound to real laws of motion (Not exactly bound as it removes the fun from games). So instead of letting the player to translate in X and Y (right and up) directions, I made it such that it tilts in the direction player wants it to go in but can only apply force in forward direction.

In this game, there are some things which I tried for the first time like Timeline sequences in Unity or recording your voice and making it a bit funny in Audacity. All in all, I am really happy with the game I was able to make.

This game is made in unity. All the models are created in Blender and texturing of some assets was done in Substance Painter. There is quite less audio in this game as I was a bit ambitious and ran out of time, but all the audio recordings are made in Audacity.

PS: Initially I planned to make a video devlog but again ran out of time so submitting as a log in description. Also my apologies if anything is not formatted as a devlog, this is my first time writing one.
